People over profits

We are a relationship-based organization.

We prioritize the best interests of the people we serve and our staff.

Ownership Mindset

We are the only 100% employee-owned human services agency in Virginia. Research shows that employee-owners are more committed to quality and we see that reflected in our work every day here at Wall.

Diversity is a Strength

We believe that diversity strengthens our company, our services, and our communities. Every person brings unique talents and perspectives, and we are all enriched by learning from people of different backgrounds, life experiences, and abilities.

Community Inclusion

We believe all people thrive in community and deserve opportunities to build meaningful relationships through active involvement and inclusion.

The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Seek First to Understand®

Our founders and our company culture have been deeply influenced by Stephen R. Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, especially Habit #5, “Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood®.” We strive to listen and work with each person from where they are, helping them to move forward in the way that is right for them.

Look Beyond a Label

Person-centered thinking, language, and planning are at the center of all we do.

Person-Centered Thinking

Our services are designed around the needs and preferences of the individual being supported. Factors such as structure, environment, and social preferences are thoughtfully considered to ensure the fit for meaningful support.

Person-Centered Language

Person-centered language recognizes the individual first and places any disability-related information second. It acknowledges diagnoses as one aspect of a person, not their defining characteristic. We follow the teachings of author Kathy Snow, widely recognized as a leading authority on Person-First Language.
