Why Wall for Speech & Language TC?

The ability to communicate effectively has a direct impact on quality of life and personal relationships. Our goal is for all people to be able to communicate wants and needs in a functional and socially acceptable way.

Setting Goals
Our highly qualified speech-language pathologists assess each person’s unique communication needs, including the need for assistive technology or AAC devices. Once needs are identified, clinicians work with the individual and their team to develop a treatment package through modeling, consultation, or coaching. Goals and desired outcomes are determined collaboratively.

Finding Solutions
The clinician may trial a variety of assistive technologies, including high-tech and low-tech devices to determine an appropriate match to facilitate functional communication. They then develop a treatment plan that outlines therapeutic techniques, environmental modifications, assistive technology needs, and interventions to try to support the individual in meeting their identified goals. The SLP will request the necessary assistive technology devices and ensure they are received by the individual and their team for use across settings.

Ongoing Support
The clinician meets regularly with the individual and their team to coach and consult on therapeutic interventions and supports, and to encourage appropriate and consistent use of assistive technology devices, when applicable. Throughout the Therapeutic Consultation process, progress or regression is closely monitored and adjustments to the treatment plan are made as needed. This service cannot duplicate other Medicaid services, such as Outpatient Speech & Language Therapy.
